US Warns of Renewed Military Action, Blockade if Iran Fails to Meet Agreement Commitments

BRUSSELS: The United States will resume military action and reimpose a blockade if Iran fails to fulfil its commitments under its agreement with Washington, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has said, according to Reuters.

Speaking in Brussels after meeting North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) defence ministers, Hegseth said the US was prepared to take further action if Iran does not follow through on its commitments during the agreed timeline of talks.

“The president has pointed out that we will be prepared to recommence if underneath the timeline of these talks, Iran does not do what it says it’s going to do,” Hegseth said.

He added that the United States would be capable of restoring strict measures against Iran if it does not comply with the agreement.

“If Iran doesn’t comply, then we’re more than able to reimpose an ironclad blockade,” he said.
