KP Government Was Among Terrorism Facilitators, Says DG ISPR

ISLAMABAD: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has alleged that an “incompetent and indifferent” government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was among the facilitators of terrorism, adding that a key facilitator who had been obstructing counterterrorism efforts was no longer in the province.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Pakistan had a clear strategy to tackle terrorism, a key component of which was eliminating terrorists and all their facilitators operating within the country.

He said certain terrorism-related challenges also needed to be addressed internally, stressing that Pakistan’s counterterrorism efforts required dealing with both terrorists and those providing them support.

The DG ISPR further stated that no one in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa opposed counterterrorism operations in principle. According to him, those opposing such operations were the ones who had links with terrorist groups.

He reiterated that eliminating terrorist networks and their support structures remained a central part of Pakistan’s strategy to combat terrorism.
