FRANCE: US President Donald Trump has warned that the United States would launch fresh military strikes against Iran if Tehran fails to comply with the recently agreed memorandum of understanding (MoU).
Speaking about the agreement, Trump said he had made it clear to Iranian leaders that violating the deal would have serious consequences. “I let them know — I said, ‘Look, if you don’t adhere to the agreement, I don’t want to do that, but we’re going to bomb the hell out of you,’” he said.
Trump expressed confidence that Iran would honour its commitments under the agreement, adding that he did not expect Tehran to deviate from the deal. He argued that military action, rather than legal measures, would be the US response to any breach.
“What else am I going to do? Am I going to say I’m going to take you to court? ‘Let me take you to court, let me sue you,’” Trump said. “No, we’re going to bomb the hell out of them if they violate the agreement.”
The US president stressed that he hoped such action would not be necessary and reiterated his preference for Iran to fully comply with the terms of the MoU. “I don’t want them to. I want them to honour the agreement,” he said.
