The Hundred tops global T20 league rankings, IPL slips to third

DUBAI: The World Cricketers’ Association has released its latest rankings of leading T20 cricket leagues, placing England’s The Hundred at the top, ahead of several financially stronger competitions.

According to the report, The Hundred secured the top position with 75.2 points, followed by South Africa’s SA20 in second place with 68 points.

Despite being the most lucrative league globally, India’s Indian Premier League ranked third with 62.6 points. The association noted that while the league dominates financially, there remains room for improvement in overall standards, particularly in player rights and welfare systems.

Australia’s Big Bash League secured fourth place by a narrow margin, while Pakistan’s Pakistan Super League ranked fifth with 48 points, maintaining its position among the world’s prominent T20 leagues.

Other leagues in the rankings included Major League Cricket in sixth place, International League T20 seventh, Caribbean Premier League eighth, Abu Dhabi T10 League ninth, and Bangladesh Premier League tenth.

The report emphasised that financial strength alone does not determine the quality of a league, highlighting the importance of player welfare, governance standards, and overall playing environment in shaping global rankings.
