WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has announced that planned military strikes against Iran have been cancelled following what he described as high-level discussions with the Iranian leadership.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that talks with the Islamic Republic of Iran had been elevated to the highest levels of its leadership and had received approval. On that basis, he stated, he had decided—acting as President of the United States—to call off the scheduled strikes and bombings planned for later in the evening.

He further claimed that “discussions and final points” had been agreed upon in both concept and detailed terms by all parties involved. According to him, this includes not only the United States and Iran, but also Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkiye, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, and other stakeholders.
Trump also added that a US naval blockade of Iranian ports would continue to remain fully in effect until the arrangement is finalized. He said the timing and location for the formal signing of the agreement would be announced at a later stage.
