Iran Retaliates Against Israel After Beirut Attack; Petrochemical Plant Hit in Khuzestan

Tehran/Tel Aviv: Iran launched missiles towards Israel in response to Israeli strikes on Lebanon’s capital, Beirut, further escalating tensions across the region.

The Israeli military claimed that multiple missiles were fired from Iran towards Israeli territory, adding that its air defence systems were actively engaged in intercepting the incoming projectiles.

According to the Israeli military, warning sirens were activated in several areas of northern Israel, including the city of Haifa, immediately after the missile launches were detected. Residents were instructed to move to protected shelters and secure locations as a precautionary measure.

The military further stated that armed forces and defence agencies had been placed on high alert for the coming hours amid concerns over the possibility of additional attacks.

Israeli authorities said the situation was being closely monitored, while the country’s air defence systems remained fully operational and prepared to respond to any further threats.

The latest developments came after Israeli airstrikes targeted Beirut’s southern suburbs on Sunday.

Reports indicated that the Israeli bombardment resulted in casualties, although authorities have yet to release confirmed figures regarding the number of people killed or injured.

Following the Israeli attack, Iranian officials issued strong warnings, vowing that strikes on the Lebanese capital would not go unanswered. Iran’s leadership cautioned that continued aggression in the region could lead to serious consequences.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) released a strongly worded statement warning Israel to immediately halt its attacks on Lebanon or face further devastating repercussions. The IRGC asserted that Israel bears responsibility for the growing instability in the region.

Karoun Petrochemical Company Hit by Israeli Airstrike

In a separate development, the Karoun Petrochemical Company in Mahshahr, located in Iran’s Khuzestan province, was struck in an Israeli air raid.

According to the Deputy Governor of Khuzestan for Security and Administrative Affairs, the facility was targeted in an airstrike a short while earlier, causing damage to parts of the installation.

Provincial officials said relevant authorities were assessing the situation, while efforts were underway to determine the nature and extent of the damage.

Preliminary reports suggested that several sections of the company were affected by the attack. However, no confirmed details regarding fatalities or injuries have been released so far.

Authorities stated that a comprehensive investigation into the incident was underway and that further information regarding the damage would be shared with the public once assessments were completed.

Following the strike, security measures in the area were significantly tightened, while emergency response teams were deployed and remained on alert.
