Hamas, Palestinian Factions Hold Cairo Talks on Gaza Ceasefire

Cairo: Senior Hamas leaders and representatives of other Palestinian factions from Gaza have arrived in the Egyptian capital for talks on the second phase of the US-brokered Gaza ceasefire agreement, as the fragile truce continues to face repeated violations by Israel.

The discussions are taking place amid ongoing Israeli military actions in Gaza, raising concerns over the sustainability of the ceasefire and the future of humanitarian access to the besieged territory.

On Thursday, Hamas welcomed the proposed formation of a 15-member Palestinian technocratic committee, which would be responsible for administrative and governance matters in Gaza. According to the proposal, the committee would operate under the overall supervision of a “Board of Peace,” to be chaired by US President Donald Trump.

The move is being presented as part of broader efforts to stabilize Gaza and advance the next stage of the ceasefire process, though political and security challenges remain significant.
