PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced the auction of fancy vehicle number plates featuring the names of prominent political and national figures, including PTI founder Imran Khan, President Asif Ali Zardari, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, and other leaders.
Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Syed Fakhar Jehan said number plates bearing the names of PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will also be part of the auction.
In the first phase, the plates “Imran Khan-804” and “Imran Khan-1” will go under the hammer on January 27. Plates named after other political leaders and national figures will be auctioned in subsequent phases.
According to an official advertisement by the Excise and Taxation Department, number plates featuring well-known tribal and family names — including Afridi, Gandapur, Durrani, Kundi, Yousufzai, Mahsood, and Khattak — will also be auctioned on January 27 at Nishtar Hall, Peshawar.
Citizens can submit their applications through the Dastak app, with the deadline set for January 26, 2026.
The bidding will start at Rs1 million, and the highest bidder will secure the number plate bearing their preferred political or national figure’s name. The minister said strong public interest is already visible, and the initiative is expected to generate substantial revenue for the government.
