TEHRAN — Senior officials from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye are expected to meet Iranian leadership in Tehran on Monday to discuss regional security, cooperation and the escalating tensions across the Middle East, according to a report by the British news agency cited by Dunya News.
Saudi Arabia is expected to be represented by Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, while Türkiye’s intelligence chief, Ibrahim Kalin, is also expected to participate in the meeting. Pakistan is expected to take part in the high-level diplomatic engagement.
The proposed meeting comes amid growing regional security concerns and tensions involving Iran, the United States and Israel. It is also expected to provide an opportunity for the participating countries to discuss regional stability and security challenges.
Meanwhile, a Qatari mediation delegation has arrived in Tehran. According to Qatari media reports, the delegation is expected to convey US President Donald Trump’s demands to Iranian officials.
Iran has reportedly been pressing for the restoration of its frozen assets and an end to the naval blockade, according to the reports cited by Reuters.
Earlier this month, ministers from countries participating in the Makkah defence pact held an emergency meeting in Riyadh, where they agreed to accelerate the deployment of military personnel and defence capabilities in Saudi Arabia.
The proposed Tehran meeting is taking place against the backdrop of heightened regional tensions following US and Israeli military operations against Iran, which have increased security concerns across the Middle East.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement in August, according to the report. Under the agreement, an armed attack against one member is to be treated as an attack against all members.
The outcome of the anticipated meeting in Tehran could be significant for regional diplomatic engagement and security coordination.
However, the meeting’s final agenda and any decisions resulting from the talks have yet to be confirmed.
