Explosions Reported in Saudi Capital After Air Raid Alerts

RIYADH: Three explosions were heard in Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh, early in the morning, according to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), following mobile phone alerts warning residents of an aerial threat.

Residents reportedly received emergency notifications instructing them to seek shelter in a safe location before the explosions were heard.

Meanwhile, the Saudi-led military coalition announced that its air defence systems had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched towards Riyadh by Yemen’s Houthi fighters.

It remains unclear whether the explosions heard across the capital were caused by the missile interception. No reports of casualties or damage had been confirmed at the time of reporting.
