TEHRAN: The spokesman for Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Brigadier General Hossein Mohebbi, has warned that a potential large-scale war involving the United States, Israel and Iran could have consequences extending beyond Iran and affect the future of the wider region.
According to Iran’s Press TV, Mohebbi made the remarks on Saturday, October 24, 2026, urging Iranian society to understand the circumstances surrounding the ongoing confrontation, maintain national unity and rely on domestic capabilities to determine the country’s future.
Mohebbi expressed confidence that Iran would achieve what he described as “absolute victory” in the “apocalyptic war” and emerge as a global superpower.
He said the confrontation between Iran, the United States and Israel extended beyond the military sphere, involving issues of national identity, culture, religion and Iranian-Islamic civilization.
According to the IRGC spokesman, protecting Iran’s territorial integrity and safeguarding its national and religious identity were among the country’s most important responsibilities.
Mohebbi alleged that the United States and Israel sought to weaken and fragment Iran by undermining its national identity, erasing its culture and promoting their own values and models.
He said public resilience and resistance would help Iran navigate the current confrontation and build a future based on what he described as dignity and strength.
The spokesman stressed that defending Iran required more than protecting its geographical borders, arguing that the country’s culture, national and religious identity, and civilization also needed to be safeguarded.
The statement comes amid continued tensions between Washington and Tehran, despite negotiations and diplomatic contacts over recent months, according to Press TV.
The Iranian broadcaster also reported that the US military had drawn up plans for possible renewed strikes against Iran, potentially targeting energy infrastructure and nuclear facilities. However, the supplied report did not provide independent confirmation of these claims.
According to Press TV, the war began on February 28, 2026, while Iran and the United States were engaged in negotiations over Tehran’s nuclear programme.
The report said Iran responded with missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli-occupied territories and US bases and interests across the region.
Mohebbi’s remarks reflect Tehran’s position that the confrontation involves not only military and security concerns but also questions of sovereignty, national identity and regional stability.
The potential consequences of further escalation would depend on developments on the ground and the course of diplomatic efforts between the parties.
