Pakistan Urges Two-Week Ceasefire and Diplomatic Window to End Iran War

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for an urgent diplomatic push to end the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, stating that efforts toward a peaceful settlement are progressing “steadily, strongly, and powerfully,” with the potential to yield substantive results in the near future.

In a formal appeal, the Prime Minister urged Donald Trump to extend the current deadline by two weeks to allow diplomacy to run its full course. He emphasized that such a move would provide critical space for negotiations to mature and deliver a conclusive outcome.

Sharif also made a goodwill request to Iran, asking its leadership to reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz for a corresponding period of two weeks.

He described the step as an important confidence-building measure that could help de-escalate tensions in the region.

Furthermore, Pakistan called on all warring parties to observe a complete ceasefire for two weeks, stressing that a temporary halt in hostilities is essential for diplomacy to achieve a lasting resolution.

The Prime Minister underlined that these coordinated measures are in the broader interest of long-term peace and stability across the Middle East.

He concluded by reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to supporting all sincere efforts aimed at ending the conflict through dialogue and mutual understanding.
