WASHINGTON: A wave of strong reactions has emerged from senior Democratic leaders in the United States following controversial statements attributed to Donald Trump, with many lawmakers warning that his rhetoric could lead to catastrophic global consequences and even war crimes.
Members of the House Democratic leadership issued a sharply worded statement condemning what they described as a “threat to kill a whole civilization,” arguing that such language is not only reckless but dangerous on a global scale.
They urged immediate congressional action to prevent further escalation in the Middle East.
Congressman Robert Garcia stated that Trump appears “completely out of control,” warning that his threats toward the Iranian people must be taken seriously. Garcia emphasized that the President’s cabinet should remain loyal to the Constitution and consider invoking the 25th Amendment to remove him from office.
Similarly, Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva described Trump as “mentally unstable” and “unfit to govern,” insisting that he must be removed either by Congress or through constitutional mechanisms within his own administration.
She further warned that openly threatening attacks on civilian infrastructure constitutes a violation of international law and cannot be normalized.
Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari expressed grave concern, accusing Trump of using “apocalyptic rhetoric” and threatening actions that could amount to genocide against Iranian civilians. She described the situation as a critical moment in world history, urging immediate efforts to prevent escalation.
Congressman Morgan McGarvey echoed similar sentiments, stating that Congress is not powerless and must act swiftly by invoking the 25th Amendment.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris also weighed in, condemning the President’s alleged remarks as “abhorrent.” She argued that the administration’s approach has not only endangered American troops but also weakened the United States’ global standing and increased economic pressures on its citizens.
Harris further stated that the American public does not support what she described as an “illegal war of choice,” urging lawmakers to oppose any funding that could escalate the conflict further.
