Bilawal Bhutto Urges Opposition to Participate in Electoral Reforms

Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has urged the opposition to participate in the electoral reform process and ensure representation in parliamentary committees.

Speaking during a National Assembly session, Bilawal said that if the opposition leader wanted to strengthen Parliament, opposition lawmakers should be appointed to the relevant committees.

He said the government must fulfil its responsibilities, but the opposition also had a duty to play an active role in parliamentary affairs. He argued that the opposition’s absence from the Finance Committee had weakened Parliament.

“ If Parliament is strong, we are all strong,” Bilawal said, urging opposition lawmakers to begin exercising their parliamentary powers.

The PPP chairman questioned the effectiveness of establishing a committee on electoral reforms if the opposition refused to participate in its proceedings.

He called on the opposition to engage in the reform process and contribute to parliamentary deliberations rather than remain absent from the committees tasked with examining proposed changes to the electoral system.
