Washington: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, during which he said Türkiye was working to resolve issues surrounding the Strait of Hormuz and Yemen through diplomatic channels, in coordination with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan under their defence alliance, according to the Turkish presidency.
Erdoğan also told Trump that Türkiye was ready to support efforts to revive the diplomatic process between Russia and Ukraine to help bring an end to the ongoing war between the two countries.
Meanwhile, a US-based website reported that Saudi Arabia had urged Washington not to rush into further attacks on Iran and to allow more time for negotiations.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran was prepared to give diplomacy an opportunity to succeed.
Araghchi said Iran’s armed forces were fully prepared to defend the country, while the government was giving diplomacy another chance.
He added that Tehran remained in close contact with mediators to examine proposals aimed at ensuring the implementation of its seven-day plan in less than a week.
