TEHRAN: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who is on an official visit to Iran, met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and discussed the regional situation and bilateral relations.
During the meeting, President Pezeshkian said that pressure from the United States had brought Muslim countries closer to one another. He noted that Iran and Pakistan could benefit from their regional capabilities to meet some of their respective needs.
The Iranian president expressed his country’s desire to further strengthen cooperation with Pakistan in trade, economy, politics, culture and science.
Earlier, Mohsin Naqvi visited the Iranian Ministry of Interior, where he held a meeting with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni. The two sides reviewed Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations, the latest regional developments and progress in ongoing cooperation in various fields.
Eskandar Momeni thanked Pakistan for its efforts toward regional peace and stability, including the initiatives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal. He said Iran appreciated Pakistan’s continued efforts for peace in the region and described his recent visit to Pakistan as highly productive.
Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan was committed to further strengthening bilateral relations with Iran and expressed confidence that ties between the two countries would become stronger in the coming period.
