Iran’s Supreme Leader Says US Hostility Toward Tehran Will Persist Despite Change in Administration

TEHRAN: Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has said the United States has pursued a policy of domination and hostility toward Iran for the past seven decades, asserting that the Iranian people have successfully defended their independence and sovereignty despite sustained American pressure.

In a message to the Iranian nation, Khamenei cited the 1953 overthrow of Iran’s government as a major example of US interference.

He said Washington had sought to gain control over Iran’s resources, particularly its oil, while its support for the Shah, assistance to Iraq, and economic sanctions were also part of its hostile policy toward Tehran.

Khamenei said the United States had resorted to political interference, assassinations, and direct military attacks against Iran. However, he maintained that all attempts to weaken and subordinate the country had failed.

Referring to recent developments in the Strait of Hormuz, the Iranian Supreme Leader said the events had exposed the limits of American military power and demonstrated that the United States was not invincible.

He added that regional countries could not always rely on external powers for their security.

Khamenei also highlighted the cooperation of resistance movements in Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen, describing their activities as part of the struggle against Western domination.

He said Iran should not expect an end to American hostility through negotiations, arguing that a change in the US administration or ruling party would not alter Washington’s policy toward Tehran.

According to him, making concessions to the United States would only lead to increased pressure and further demands.

The Iranian leader stressed that national unity, economic development, military strength, scientific advancement, and political independence were fundamental to Iran’s security and future.

Addressing the country’s youth, Khamenei urged them to abandon despair, pursue knowledge and practical skills, and play an active role in shaping Iran’s future through moral development and personal capabilities.
