The United Arab Emirates has welcomed the US–Iran Memorandum of Understanding, praising the diplomatic breakthrough and calling for stronger regional security measures.
In a statement, the UAE Foreign Ministry highlighted the importance of adhering to international law “in a manner that enhances security and stability in the region”.
The ministry stressed the need for “full compliance with the agreement’s provisions, ensuring an immediate and comprehensive cessation of hostilities in the region, respect for the sovereignty of states and the principles of good neighbourliness, strict adherence to international law, and the protection of maritime routes and freedom of international navigation, including ensuring the smooth flow of traffic through the Strait of Hormuz”.
It added that “this will enhance security, stability, and economic prosperity at both the regional and international levels”.
The Emirati ministry also commended US President Donald Trump’s diplomatic efforts and called for continued progress in negotiations to build on the agreement and achieve sustainable results.
