Iran deal set for signing tomorrow, uranium issue to be addressed later: Trump

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has announced that a deal with Iran is scheduled to be signed tomorrow, according to a post on his Truth Social platform.

“The deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is open to all,” Trump wrote. He added that relations between Washington and Tehran had improved significantly, saying, “Our relationship with Iran is a much different and better one than previous administrations have had.”

Trump also stated that no money would be exchanged as part of the agreement. Referring to Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium, he said, “At the appropriate time, when all is calm, we will go in and get the nuclear dust … and downblend and destroy it, whether in Iran, or the United States.”

The US president further expressed optimism about future cooperation with Iran and the wider Middle East. “We look forward to working with Iran and the entire Middle East, long into the future,” he said.

The US president said he hoped the process would proceed “quickly, easily, and smoothly”. However, he added a note of caution, writing: “If it doesn’t, we have the ultimate alternative, hopefully never to be used again!” indicating that other options would remain available if the agreement were not successfully implemented.
