TEHRAN : Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei has ordered the country’s armed forces to deliver an immediate and forceful response to any enemy threat, without geographical limitations.
According to Iranian state media, Khamenei issued the directives during a meeting with senior commanders of the Iranian Armed Forces, emphasizing that all potential threats must be met with an effective response.
He stated that all material and non-material assets of the United States and Israel should remain within the reach of Iran’s armed forces.
Khamenei warned that if Iran’s enemies launch military or terrorist attacks again, the Iranian Armed Forces and the Iranian nation will determine the timing and conditions for ending the confrontation.
The Iranian leader also directed military commanders to strengthen the country’s defence and intelligence capabilities through modern technologies and improve military preparedness to deal with potential threats.
He further ordered a comprehensive update of Iran’s military target database to ensure that all US and Israeli assets are included within the potential reach of Iranian forces.
During the meeting, senior military commanders briefed Khamenei on the operational readiness of Iranian forces along the Persian Gulf coast, the Strait of Hormuz, the Sea of Oman and the country’s northwestern and southeastern borders.
The commanders also reported an increase in the production of ammunition, reconnaissance equipment, support systems and combat weapons.
The directives come amid heightened tensions between Tehran, Washington and Tel Aviv, with diplomatic efforts continuing to prevent a renewed military confrontation in the region.
