Pakistan Army ‘Cautiously Optimistic’ About US-Iran Mediation Efforts: DG ISPR

Rawalpindi: Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that the Pakistan Army remains cautiously optimistic about ongoing efforts to mediate between Iran and the United States.

According to Reuters, the remarks came during his first interview following a high-level Pakistani delegation’s visit to Tehran earlier this week.

Asked whether the visits had produced any positive signals, DG ISPR Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said, “Why would Field Marshal Munir make two trips to Tehran if there was no hope of something positive coming out of it? So yes, certainly.”

He further emphasized that Pakistan would continue to describe its expectations as “cautious optimism.”

The military spokesperson also noted that influential elements and spoilers remain active, believing they stand to benefit from the continuation of the conflict.
