NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar participated in the Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Eight Arab-Islamic Countries on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Addressing the meeting, Ishaq Dar expressed serious concern over continued violations of the ceasefire in Gaza and the ongoing loss of civilian lives.
The deputy prime minister strongly condemned the continued illegal settlement activities and settler violence in the occupied West Bank. He also called for rejecting any attempts to undermine the historical status of holy sites.
Ishaq Dar stressed the need for the full implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.
He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for a sovereign, independent and contiguous Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
The meeting was held as part of diplomatic efforts to address the ongoing situation in Gaza and advance international support for a political settlement of the Palestinian issue.
