Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it shot down a hostile drone over the southwestern port city of Bandar Imam Khomeini in the early hours of Thursday, according to a statement carried by the Tasnim news agency.
The IRGC’s local unit stated that the unmanned aircraft was intercepted and destroyed after entering the city’s airspace.
According to the statement, debris from the downed drone fell onto a house in Bandar Imam Khomeini. No casualties or injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
The IRGC added that, after the drone was identified and brought down, an ordnance disposal team secured the wreckage, neutralised any potential hazards, and removed the debris from the site, Tasnim reported.
