US President Donald Trump will attend a ceremony at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware this evening to witness the “dignified transfer of our fallen heroes,” the White House said. The ceremony will honor four US service members killed during the war, whose bodies will be returned home in flag-draped coffins.
The ceremony is taking place amid growing domestic frustration over Trump’s war on Iran, which has cost the United States $37.5 billion and resulted in the deaths of 18 US service members. More than 450 personnel have also been injured so far.
Three US service members — First Lieutenant Tyler James Feehan, 25, Sergeant Angel S Rampersad, 28, and Private Isabella Gonzales, 19 — were killed on Friday when an Iranian missile struck their sleeping barracks at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.
Another US service member, Sergeant Michael Emmanuel Swinton, 30, was killed in Erbil, Iraq, on Sunday during a controlled detonation of an attack drone.
