Iran Suspends Implementation of Islamabad MOU After Accusing U.S. of Violating Commitments

Tehran: Iran has announced the suspension of all commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), accusing the United States of violating the agreement by launching military strikes during the negotiation process.

Speaking on Saturday, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said Washington had broken its commitments by carrying out attacks while diplomatic talks were underway. In response, Tehran has decided to halt implementation of all provisions of the Islamabad Memorandum with immediate effect.

“The United States violated its commitments by attacking during the negotiations. Therefore, Iran is suspending the implementation of all commitments under the Memorandum of Understanding,” Gharibabadi stated.

The announcement marks a significant setback for diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions between Iran and the United States. The suspension raises fresh concerns over the future of the agreement and the prospects for renewed dialogue.

The United States has not immediately issued an official response to Iran’s announcement.
