ISLAMABAD: All bus terminals operating in the federal capital were closed on Monday night as part of security arrangements ahead of the arrival of the Iranian President on Tuesday (today).
Officials from the capital administration and police said that, on the directives of the capital administration, Islamabad Police approached the management of bus terminals across the city, including those at Faizabad and Chungi No 26, and instructed them to suspend operations before midnight.
The terminal managements were further directed to keep their operations suspended on Tuesday. The terminals will remain closed until the departure of the Iranian President.
In addition, the Islamabad Red Zone will also be sealed as a security measure. Entry into the area will only be permitted to relevant officials.
More than 1,000 police personnel, along with paramilitary forces including Rangers, are being deployed in and around the Red Zone and other important buildings. Security arrangements are also being implemented along the route of the Iranian President from the airport to the Red Zone.
Police officials are also verifying the details of guests staying at hotels and guesthouses located inside the Red Zone and nearby areas.
Officials further said that public transport services, Metro buses, and e-buses are also expected to be suspended within the High Security Zone, which includes the Red Zone.
