WASHINGTON: Donald Trump, while speaking to Fox News, claimed that an agreement with Iran is expected to be signed in Pakistan today.
The US President said that JD Vance is likely to arrive in Islamabad within the next few hours, accompanied by a high-level delegation.
During the interview, Trump stated that if a breakthrough is achieved in the negotiations, he is willing to personally meet senior Iranian leaders.
He further claimed that Iran’s leadership has shown interest in meeting him, adding that he has no objections to such an engagement. Trump stressed that the United States is approaching the negotiations seriously and is not engaging in any form of gamesmanship at this stage.
The President reiterated that the core and non-negotiable demand of the talks is Iran’s complete withdrawal from pursuing nuclear weapons. He added that if Iran abandons its nuclear weapons program, it holds substantial potential for growth and development.
When asked about the possible consequences if the negotiations fail, Trump said he could not comment on the situation at this point.
