1,348 Civilians Killed in US-Israel Strikes on Iran

TEHRAN, Mar 13 (APP): At least 1,348 civilians have been killed and more than 17,000 injured in ongoing attacks linked to the conflict between Iran, Israel and the United States, Iranian officials said as the war entered its 13th day on Thursday.

According to Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, the casualties include a large number of civilians affected by airstrikes and ongoing hostilities.

The UN children’s agency UNICEF reported that more than 1,100 children have also been affected by the conflict.

Iran has launched missile and cyber attacks in response to the strikes, while tensions in the vital shipping route of the Strait of Hormuz have increased, pushing global oil prices higher.

Iran sets conditions to end war

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran was ready to end the war if three conditions were met: recognition of Iran’s legitimate rights, compensation for damages caused by the attacks, and international guarantees to prevent future aggression.

Cyber and missile operations

Reports said the Iran-linked hacker group “Handala” targeted the network of US medical equipment manufacturer Stryker in a cyber attack, claiming to have stolen about 50 terabytes of data.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reportedly launched joint missile attacks on Israel along with the Lebanese group Hezbollah.

Gulf countries also affected

The conflict has also impacted several Gulf states. Saudi Arabia said it intercepted and destroyed two Iranian drones heading towards the Shaybah oil field, a key energy facility.

Incidents were also reported in Oman, where a Thai aircraft was rescued after an attack, while Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates said they had repelled Iranian attacks.

In Kuwait, a drone strike reportedly damaged several electricity lines.

US and Israeli response

US President Donald Trump said American strikes had severely weakened Iran and claimed that the war could end soon.

Israeli officials reported that 14 soldiers were injured during the fighting. Meanwhile, Israeli strikes in Beirut killed seven people and injured 21 others, according to reports.

Impact on global oil markets

The escalating conflict has disrupted global energy markets, with crude oil prices rising to around $100 per barrel.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) has announced the release of 400 million barrels of oil from strategic reserves to stabilize global markets amid the crisis.
