Iran at Highest Level of Defence Readiness, Ball Now in US Court to Prevent War: Baqer Qalibaf

Tehran: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has said that Iran will not surrender in the face of enemy threats or military action, stressing that the country is currently at the highest level of defence preparedness.

Addressing a parliamentary session, Qalibaf said that amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, the responsibility for preventing a war now rests with Washington.

He said regional countries should understand that Iran is prepared to fight with its finger on the trigger, while it has also delivered a decisive and logical response to the US side. He added that the ball is now in America’s court to prevent further escalation.

The Iranian parliamentary speaker warned that Iran’s military and operational forces remain at the highest level of defensive readiness, adding that any further strategic mistake by Washington could lead to a new military confrontation.

Meanwhile, a senior Iranian official told a news agency that Tehran and Washington remain far from reaching an agreement to end the conflict.

The official said Iran would not accept what it considers excessive US demands. He added that if Washington wants the Strait of Hormuz reopened, it must first meet Iran’s conditions. According to the official, nuclear negotiations could begin after those conditions are fulfilled.
