Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to undertake a four-day official visit to Russia during the first week of December, accompanied by an official and business delegation, according to sources.
During the visit, discussions are expected to focus on strengthening bilateral economic cooperation, expanding trade and investment, and advancing the proposed North-South Transport Corridor.
Sources indicate that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Russian President Vladimir Putin are expected to hold formal talks during the visit. The discussions are likely to cover avenues for deeper cooperation between the two countries, particularly in trade, energy, connectivity and investment.
Business Forum Planned
A business forum is also expected to be held during the visit, bringing together business representatives from Pakistan and Russia to explore investment opportunities, promote trade and establish stronger commercial partnerships.
The participation of a business delegation is expected to provide an opportunity for companies from both countries to discuss potential joint ventures and identify areas of mutual economic interest.
Focus on Regional Connectivity
The North-South Corridor is expected to feature among the key issues on the agenda. Improved transport and trade connectivity could help facilitate the movement of goods and strengthen economic links between the two countries and regional markets.
The planned visit comes amid efforts to expand Pakistan’s economic engagement with Russia and diversify bilateral trade and investment ties.
