NAGOYA: Pakistani athletes will be in action in several important events at the Asian Games today, with national players competing in fencing, shooting, tennis, athletics, squash, volleyball and other disciplines.
In fencing, Pakistan will face Qatar in the Table of 32 stage at 5:30 am, while Rabia Kabir will compete in the individual qualification round of the 25m pistol event at 5:40 am.
In the men’s singles first round of tennis, Muzammil Murtaza will take on Jordan’s Zaid Al-Mashni at 6:00 am. The men’s doubles first-round match between Pakistan and Mongolia is scheduled for 7:00 am.
In the women’s singles first round, Ushna Suhail will face Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva at 7:00 am, while Maheen Aftab Qureshi will play Thailand’s Patcharin Chepchandj at 8:00 am.
In athletics, Anser Abbas will compete in the men’s long jump qualification at 8:40 am. In squash, Pakistan’s Muhammad Irfan and Noor Zaman will face each other in the men’s singles at 8:45 am.
Pakistan will also face Kazakhstan in the men’s volleyball event at 9:00 am.
In the mixed doubles first round of tennis, Pakistan and Kazakhstan will meet in two matches, scheduled for 10:00 am and 11:00 am, respectively.
