NEW YORK: American actress Susan Sarandon was reportedly arrested during a protest outside the United Nations in New York over U.S. military support for Israel.
According to reports, Sarandon joined demonstrators calling on the United States to end its military assistance to Israel.
The protest took place as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly.
Meanwhile, members of the Orthodox Jewish community also held a demonstration in New York in opposition to Israel during Netanyahu’s address.
The protests reflected the continued divisions and public demonstrations surrounding Israel’s military operations and U.S. policy toward the conflict.
