ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the recent attacks by the Houthis against Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed Pakistan’s full solidarity with the Saudi people.
In a statement on X, the prime minister said he had expressed Pakistan’s support for Saudi Arabia and its firm commitment to peace and stability in the region during his address to the United Nations General Assembly.
Shehbaz Sharif said the reported attempt to target the holy city of Makkah with a drone had caused deep anger and grief among Muslims around the world.
He stressed that any threat to the peace, security and sanctity of the holy sites in Makkah and Madinah constituted a red line that could not be crossed under any circumstances.
“No Muslim can even imagine such a heinous act,” the prime minister said, adding that Pakistan, as it had throughout its history, stood in complete solidarity with the brotherly people of Saudi Arabia.
Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan’s commitment to peace was also reflected in the historic joint defence agreement concluded between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan in Makkah.
He clarified that the alliance was not directed against any country, but represented a collective commitment to strengthening regional defence, security, stability and peace.
