Islamabad: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi late Monday night, discussing the evolving regional situation.
According to a statement issued by the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, the two sides agreed that implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) remained the best course of action to help defuse regional tensions.
Grossi offered technical support from the IAEA should the need arise, according to the statement.
During the conversation, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s enduring commitment to advancing the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter and respecting international law and treaties.
The deputy prime minister also underscored the crucial importance of the UN system in advancing the global agenda for peace and development.
Dar wished Grossi success in his campaign for the office of United Nations Secretary-General.
