RAWALPINDI: Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir on Thursday reaffirmed that Pakistan’s fight against terrorism “will continue with full national resolve” until “enduring peace and stability” are achieved across the country, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations.
The remarks were made during an investiture ceremony held at the General Headquarters, where military awards were conferred upon officers and soldiers of the Pakistan Army in recognition of their bravery and distinguished services to the nation.
According to the statement, CDF Munir attended the ceremony as the chief guest and presented awards to the families of shuhada (martyrs), as well as serving officers and soldiers, for exceptional gallantry in operations and meritorious contributions to the country.
The military’s media wing said the awards presented during the ceremony included 50 Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and 12 Tamgha-i-Basalat. Medals awarded posthumously were received with honour by the families of the martyrs.
Addressing the ceremony, Field Marshal Asim Munir said shuhada and Ghazis remain the enduring pride of the nation, adding that their honour and sacrifice are a sacred trust for every Pakistani. He stated that the peace and security of the homeland are owed to their supreme sacrifices and unwavering devotion to duty.
The statement further said the army chief expressed profound admiration for the resilience, dignity and steadfastness demonstrated by the families of shuhada, acknowledging their unparalleled sacrifices and continued commitment to the homeland.
CDF Munir also appreciated the operational preparedness and unwavering resolve of Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies (LEAs), praising their sustained efforts against terrorists.
Reaffirming the state’s commitment to counterterrorism efforts, he said the fight against terrorism would continue with full national resolve until lasting peace and stability are restored throughout the country.
