Pakistan’s diplomatic and mediation initiatives are receiving widespread global recognition
across international newspapers, magazines, and television networks. Speaking on Pakistan TV,
senior analyst Asif Ali Bhatti highlighted a significant turnaround in the country’s international
perception, noting that Pakistan—previously labeled by Western nations and neighboring
adversaries as a security state facing diplomatic hurdles—has now emerged as a key global
mediator.
Bhatti emphasized that Islamabad’s strategic role in facilitating dialogue between conflicting
nations is being acknowledged even by countries not directly involved in the disputes. European
and Middle Eastern nations, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar, are increasingly looking toward
Pakistan for diplomatic leadership.
He pointed out that key diplomatic breakthroughs—such as the “Islamabad Memorandum” and trilateral framework agreements involving Saudi Arabia,
Pakistan, and Turkey—have reinforced Pakistan’s political acumen, diplomatic strategies, and
military-backed diplomatic initiatives, spearheaded by Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim
Munir alongside the Pakistani government.
Addressing a query regarding the peace prospects between Washington and Tehran, Bhatti noted
that the underlying conflict is a long-standing dispute characterized by years of deep-seated
mistrust rather than a recent development. However, following six months of intense conflict,
Pakistan’s mediation has driven a critical realization among the involved parties that dialogue
remains the only viable path toward a lasting settlement.
