Strikes hit Iran gas facilities in Isfahan, Khorramshahr

TEHRAN: Iranian media reported that gas infrastructure in key cities was targeted in fresh strikes amid the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel.

According to Fars News Agency, a gas administration building and a pressure reduction station on Kaveh Street in Isfahan were hit, causing damage to parts of the facilities as well as nearby residential homes.

Separately, reports indicated an attack on a gas pipeline connected to a power station in Khorramshahr. The local governor confirmed that a projectile landed outside the facility, adding that no casualties were reported.

Isfahan is considered a major hub in Iran’s gas distribution network, supplying fuel to multiple cities and industrial sectors, while Khorramshahr forms part of a broader system linked to electricity generation and energy supply.

The reported strikes come despite earlier remarks by US President Donald Trump, who had suggested that attacks on energy infrastructure could be paused, raising questions over the alignment between political statements and developments on the ground.

Meanwhile, Iran has denied claims of ongoing negotiations with the United States. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said Tehran had received messages via intermediaries but no direct talks had taken place.

He described reports of negotiations as “fake news” and warned that any attack on Iran’s energy infrastructure would draw a “decisive and immediate” response.

In a separate statement, Iran’s Defence Council reiterated that any aggression targeting power plants or energy facilities would be met with a strong retaliatory response, signalling heightened tensions as the conflict escalates.
