Rawalpindi: The Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has said that Operation Ghazab lil-Haq was launched to safeguard Pakistan’s sovereign rights and security interests, adding that the military action will continue until its objectives are fully achieved.
Speaking to the media, Lt Gen Chaudhry stated that the Afghan Taliban regime had itself signed the Doha agreement, under which it pledged that Afghan soil would not be used for terrorism against any country.
However, he said that repeated incidents of terrorism originating from Afghan territory had compelled Pakistan to act in self-defence.
Referring to the latest military action carried out overnight, the ISPR chief emphasized that the operation was undertaken strictly to protect Pakistan’s sovereignty and ensure the safety of its citizens.
He confirmed that Operation Ghazab lil-Haq is being conducted on the directives of the prime minister and will continue until all stated objectives are accomplished.
Lt Gen Chaudhry also underscored that there is unanimous consensus among all political parties in Pakistan that terrorism cannot be allowed any space within the country.
He noted that the National Action Plan (NAP), formulated in 2014 following a surge in militant attacks, remains the cornerstone of Pakistan’s counterterrorism strategy.
He added that the government is now pursuing counterterrorism efforts under the broader vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” aimed at consolidating gains made against militant groups and ensuring long-term internal stability.
In a strongly worded statement, the ISPR director general asserted that there is no distinction between the Afghan Taliban regime and terrorist groups, describing the regime as a “master proxy” that operates and protects multiple proxies.
He further alleged that India is involved in every incident of terrorism taking place in Pakistan.
The military spokesperson reiterated that Pakistan’s armed forces remain committed to defending the country’s territorial integrity and eliminating all threats to national security, signaling a firm stance amid escalating tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
