Washington, DC (Web Desk) U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that $7 billion has been raised as an initial contribution to a Gaza reconstruction fund during the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace (BoP).
Addressing world leaders at the first formal session of the newly established body, Trump said the funds represent a “down payment” from contributing nations aimed at rebuilding Gaza following months of conflict and destruction.
He emphasized that the reconstruction effort would focus on restoring housing, healthcare facilities, schools, and critical infrastructure. In a series of announcements at the conclusion of his speech, Trump also pledged that the United States would contribute $10 billion to the Board of Peace.
He described the financial commitment as a demonstration of Washington’s leadership in promoting peace and stability in conflict-affected regions.
Among the international leaders attending the meeting was Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who joined counterparts from various countries at the high-profile gathering.
The participation of global leaders underscored the significance of the newly formed board as a diplomatic platform.
Trump first proposed the Board of Peace in September last year when he unveiled his plan to end Israel’s war in Gaza.
He later clarified that the board’s mandate would extend beyond Gaza, expanding to address other conflicts around the world.
According to Trump, additional funding efforts are expected in the coming months, with further contributions anticipated from partner nations.
Analysts say the effectiveness of the initiative will depend on transparent fund management and coordinated international cooperation.
The inaugural meeting marks a significant diplomatic development, positioning the Board of Peace as a potential mechanism for conflict resolution and post-war reconstruction on a broader global scale.
