UK Prosecutors in Contact with Police Over Prince Andrew Case

LONDON: Britain’s chief prosecutor on Tuesday said authorities are in contact with police regarding ongoing investigations into alleged links between Prince Andrew and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

According to Reuters, Director of Public Prosecutions for England and Wales Stephen Parkinson confirmed that the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is liaising with the Metropolitan Police and Thames Valley Police over the matter.

“We are in close contact with the Met and Thames Valley Police, but we have not been asked for formal advice yet,” Parkinson said.

He added that in complex and sensitive cases, coordination between prosecutors and law enforcement agencies is standard practice. “In complex and sensitive cases, the CPS and the police do work together, and I am sure we will do so,” he stated, while noting that authorities would not provide “step-by-step updates” at this stage.

The development follows reports that police are assessing information related to Prince Andrew’s past association with Epstein, including allegations that confidential trade documents were shared in 2010 during Andrew’s tenure as a UK trade envoy.

Earlier, Buckingham Palace indicated that King Charles would cooperate with law enforcement authorities if required.

No formal charges have been announced, and investigations remain ongoing.
