ABU DHABI, Feb — The United Arab Emirates on Monday reaffirmed that it will not allow its territory, airspace or territorial waters to be used for launching any hostile military actions against Iran.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the country remains committed to preventing any attacks on Iran from its soil, stressing that it would also not provide logistical support for such operations.
The ministry emphasized that dialogue, de-escalation, respect for international law and state sovereignty were the most effective means to address ongoing regional crises.
The statement followed recent remarks by US President Donald Trump, who said a US “armada” was heading toward the Gulf as Washington continued to closely monitor developments in Iran after nationwide protests subsided.
The UAE hosts thousands of US military personnel at Al Dhafra Air Base near Abu Dhabi, one of several American military facilities in the Gulf region.
Tensions between Washington and Tehran have risen in recent months, with the United States dispatching an aircraft carrier strike group, guided-missile destroyers and fighter aircraft from the Asia-Pacific to the Middle East.
Iran has warned that any military action would be viewed as an “all-out war,” pledging a strong response to any form of attack.
A senior Iranian official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Iran’s armed forces were on high alert, adding that even limited or targeted strikes would be met with a full-scale response.
The US military has periodically increased its presence in the Middle East during times of heightened tensions, often citing defensive purposes, though a significant buildup last year preceded US strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
