ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said the federal government and its allies exhausted every avenue of parliamentary engagement, direct dialogue and back-channel diplomacy with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership.
In a statement posted on X, Naqvi said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had borne a heavy burden of terrorism, while security forces and civilians had made immense sacrifices.
He maintained that cooperation should have been the priority instead of confrontation under these circumstances.
Naqvi described the government’s move as neither a political decision nor an easy step, calling it a difficult constitutional course made necessary by circumstances on the ground.
“When every avenue for cooperation has been exhausted, the Constitution and Pakistan should be the priority,” he said.
Concluding his statement, Naqvi prayed for Pakistan’s protection and lasting peace, saying, “May Allah protect Pakistan and bless our nation with lasting peace.”
