NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the Maldives, Iran, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
During his meeting with Maldivian Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam, the two sides reviewed Pakistan-Maldives bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction over the positive momentum in ties.
They agreed to sustain high-level engagement and further enhance cooperation in trade, connectivity, economic relations, business-to-business linkages, academia and defence.
Dar also met Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.
Dar underscored the importance of dialogue, diplomacy and sustained engagement in promoting regional peace and stability. Both sides agreed to remain in close contact.
In his meeting with Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev, the two ministers exchanged views on bilateral relations and regional developments. They reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan cooperation.
Dar also held talks with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, with both sides discussing ways to further advance Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations and matters of mutual interest.
The two foreign ministers reaffirmed their mutual support and commitment to strengthening multifaceted bilateral cooperation and agreed to maintain close contact.
Separately, Dar and Guatemalan Foreign Minister Carlos Ramiro Martínez Alvarado signed an Agreement on Bilateral Political Consultations between Pakistan and Guatemala in New York.
The agreement establishes an institutional framework for regular political consultations and is aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual interest.
