US Launches Eighth Consecutive Night of Airstrikes on Iran, CENTCOM Confirms

WASHINGTON — The United States military has carried out a new wave of airstrikes against Iran for the eighth consecutive night, according to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

CENTCOM stated that the latest operations were launched under the direction of President Donald Trump. The U.S. military said the strikes are intended to protect commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and reduce Iran’s military capabilities.

The command also said it would hold Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) accountable for attacks targeting U.S. forces in Jordan.

CENTCOM confirmed that two American service members were killed in Iranian attacks in Jordan on July 17. It added that one U.S. service member remains missing following defensive operations conducted in response to the attacks.

According to the statement, four U.S. personnel who were injured in the attack received medical treatment and have since been discharged from hospitals in Jordan.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the sacrifice of American troops has strengthened the nation’s resolve, reaffirming Washington’s commitment to protecting its forces and regional interests.

The latest escalation comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East, with both sides continuing military operations that have raised concerns about regional security and the safety of international maritime trade.
