KARACHI: Police have arrested a man accused of sexually abusing more than 100 children over several years in what officials describe as the largest child abuse crackdown of the year.
According to SP Investigation East Usman Sadozai, the prime suspect, Imran, allegedly targeted boys aged 12 to 13, while his accomplice Waqas Khan has also been taken into custody. The arrests were made in Karachi’s Tipu Sultan area after a victim identified the suspects.
Police said Imran, a puncture repairman from Manzoor Colony, used a motorcycle to lure children and took them to isolated areas near the Malir River, mostly between 6pm and midnight, to commit the crimes.
Authorities revealed that DNA evidence linked the suspect to multiple cases reported between 2020 and 2025, with identical DNA profiles appearing in incidents reported six years apart. So far, nine cases have been officially registered, but investigators believe the actual number of victims may exceed 100.
A special investigation team led by DIG CIA Muqaddas Haider was formed on January 6, and the suspects were arrested within 11 days.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah praised the Karachi Police and ordered investigators to identify remaining victims and ensure the case is presented strictly on evidence. “I will not tolerate child abuse under any circumstances,” he said.
The prime suspect was later produced before a judicial magistrate and sent on a three-day physical remand for further investigation.
