MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin has described Russia’s relations with Pakistan as “genuinely mutually beneficial,” highlighting growing cooperation between the two countries across multiple sectors.
The remarks came as Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, presented his credentials to President Putin during a formal ceremony at the Grand Kremlin Palace.
Putin said Russia maintains close ties with Pakistan, a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), and noted expanding cooperation in trade, energy, education, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, railways, health, and IT.
Pakistan has increased engagement with Russia in recent years, including importing Russian crude oil since 2023, as both countries explore deeper energy and industrial cooperation. Talks are also underway on potential oil-sector agreements, refinery upgrades, and a new steel plant in Pakistan.
