LONDON: Pakistani senior tennis star Talha Waheed has set a new Guinness World Record for the most successful tennis serves in one minute, hitting 59 serves and breaking the previous record of 42.
Talha received the official certificate at a ceremony held at the Guinness World Records headquarters in London. He achieved the feat on November 8, 2024, at a tennis facility in Lahore, showcasing precision and endurance.
Speaking to Geo News, Talha said, “This milestone is not just for me but for Pakistan’s sports community. Senior athletes can continue to push limits and inspire the next generation.” He holds multiple national and international titles in 35+, 40+, and 45+ doubles categories and has consistently excelled in senior tennis competitions.
Talha credited his success to his coach Mehboob Waheed Jan, PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, and his team at GO Petroleum, including CEO Khalid Riaz and senior players like Kashif Latif.
The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) and PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi congratulated Talha, calling his achievement a “major boost for tennis in Pakistan” and a source of inspiration for young players.
After receiving the certificate, Talha met Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr Mohammad Faisal, who praised his dedication, discipline, and the pride he brought to Pakistan. Dr Faisal said, “Talha’s success strengthens Pakistan’s sporting image internationally and inspires grassroots tennis development.”
Talha has announced plans to pursue additional world records, aiming to elevate Pakistan’s profile on the global tennis stage.
