Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Asim Munir has delivered a strong message to the Afghan Taliban regime, urging it to abandon support for terrorist organizations if it seeks lasting peace.
The statement was issued by Inter-Services Public Relations following the Field Marshal’s visit to South Waziristan.
During his visit to Wana, Field Marshal Munir reviewed the prevailing security situation along Pakistan’s western border and assessed ongoing operational preparedness.
He was briefed on intelligence-based operations, border management measures, and progress under Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq, as well as developments along the Pakistan-Afghanistan frontier.
The army chief paid tribute to fallen soldiers at the martyrs’ memorial, laying floral wreaths and offering prayers.
He also interacted with officers and troops stationed at forward posts, commending their professionalism, operational readiness, and high morale amid ongoing clashes.
Emphasizing Pakistan’s sovereignty and regional stability, the Field Marshal stated that the use of Afghan soil by militant groups against Pakistan is unacceptable.
