Iran Rules Out Talks with US After Weekend Strikes

Tehran: Iran will not engage in negotiations with the United States, Ali Larijani, head of the Supreme National Security Council, said on Monday.

In a statement posted on X, Larijani rejected media reports suggesting that Iranian officials had sought to open talks with the administration of US President Donald Trump following a series of US-Israeli strikes on Iran over the weekend.

The reported strikes came after earlier rounds of nuclear negotiations between Tehran and Washington.

Larijani said Iran had made no move to initiate dialogue and dismissed such claims as baseless. He further accused the US president of destabilising the region.

“Trump plunged the region into chaos with his ‘delusional fantasies’ and now fears more American troop casualties,” Larijani wrote on X.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East following recent military exchanges and stalled diplomatic efforts over Iran’s nuclear programme.
