Four Militants Killed in Security Operations in Balochistan; Army Major Martyred in Gwadar

Quetta: Four militants described by Pakistan’s military as members of Fitna al-Hindustan were killed during intelligence-based security operations in Balochistan, while an army major was martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Gwadar district, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

In a statement, the military’s media wing said intelligence agencies had reported the presence of several hideouts belonging to the group, which it described as Indian-sponsored, in Jattak Abad in Qalat district and Shadi Kaur in Pasni tehsil of Gwadar district. The hideouts were reportedly considered a threat to the local population.

According to the ISPR, security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Jattak Abad, Qalat, on October 18, 2026. During the operation, security personnel targeted a militant hideout, and four militants were killed following an intense exchange of fire. A large cache of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the area.

Separately, a clearance operation was underway in Shadi Kaur, Pasni tehsil, Gwadar district, to eliminate militants and secure the area when security personnel were targeted by an improvised explosive device.

The explosion resulted in the martyrdom of Major Wajahat Waheed, who was leading the security team, the ISPR said.

The 34-year-old officer belonged to Lahore and lost his life while performing his duties in defence of the country, according to the military’s statement.
